Spring 2021 Update on Programming During COVID-19

Dear Patrons & Friends of Elm Street Cultural Arts Village,

There have been continuous changes happening in our community due to COVID-19. As we are certainly included in this, we wanted to provide an update on what some of our programming looks like going into 2021.

Elm Street has made the following changes to its programming:

Theatre

We have been informed that someone involved in the production of Freaky Friday has tested positive for COVID-19. Please know that we have taken great care and precaution in keeping the building clean and sanitized during and after every rehearsal and continued use of masks whenever in the building since we re-opened in May. In order to ensure the health and safety of our students, parents, volunteers, guests, and staff, ALL of the cast, crew, and creative/production team will be tested before moving forward with the production. Additionally, we will be conducting a deep clean of the building prior to the production resuming and have been in frequent communication with the Georgia Department of Public Health to ensure we are taking the necessary steps to move forward safely.

Due to the loss in time for finishing the production, we do not foresee being able to perform the show next weekend as originally anticipated. We are planning to postpone the show one weekend, March 19th-21st pending comfort and safety from the cast, team, and parents. All ticket buyers have been informed of this change via email this morning (Friday, March 5th.)

Thank you very much for your care and support. We hope that we can safely return and continue this production as soon as we are all able to. We will continue to keep you updated and look forward to sharing this story safely.

Additionally, due to an unexpected scheduling conflict with postponing Freaky Friday, we are unable to produce our March performances of iThink Improv Troupe and The Lasting Laugh as originally scheduled. All ticket buyers have been informed of this change via email as well. However, we are going to be offering a digital show with iThink Improv on Friday, March 26th at 8:00pm EST that will be streamed live to our Facebook page for free! Keep an eye out for more details to come!

While we are cautiously optimistic for the coming months, we want to ensure that when we provide our programs we are still showing stewardship of your support and keeping your health and safety as the highest priority. For now, the environment to best tell these fantastic stories is not the safest environment for our audiences. We do look forward to producing these and other shows that we’ve postponed and using these stories to positively impact our community through the arts.

Here’s what you need to know:

These were not easy decisions to come to, as so many of our community members are impacted by the arts.

However, we are all about community and will continue to act in the best interest of our guests. These are the steps we have taken:
