ARTIST TALK: Beatrice Aenlle, Chase King, and Amber Watson

Artist Talks provide an opportunity for artists to share their work and passions with the public, as well as offer insight into the exhibition as a whole. Be part of the conversation, express your thoughts and ideas, ask your burning questions, or simply sit back and enjoy the discussion. This is an opportunity to learn about the speaker’s artistic processes as well as their other projects!

Starting with a textile artist with a longstanding passion for fashion, Beatrice Aenlle! Through the power of transformation, she takes textile scraps from trash to treasure by sculpting recycled garments into unique and functional articles of clothing. These eco-conscious clothes often hold meaningful stories filled with thoughtful messages. This applies even more so to her work on display, “Commander’s Canvas.”

Next up is an artist best known for his vibrant abstract paintings, Chase King. In his current exhibited watercolor painting, “Transition,” King chose to follow his instincts. In taking time to embrace his home garden by looking, listening, and feeling his surroundings, he found that sometimes art is all about active attentiveness to the world around you.

Finally, we have film photographer Amber Watson. Watson’s years of journalism experience have led her to exploring the frequently juxtaposing relationship between photojournalism and fine art photography. She has two photographs currently on display, “Devastation Disguised – A Siren’s Call” and “Between.” One showcases the beauty of an unknown threat and the other feels like a held breath.
