About the Talk:
Artist Talks provide an opportunity for artists to share their work and passions with the public, as well as offer insight into the exhibition as a whole. Be part of the conversation, express your thoughts and ideas, ask your burning questions, or simply sit back and enjoy the discussion. This is an opportunity to learn about the speaker’s artistic processes as well as their other projects!
About the Speakers:
For this Artist Talk, we will be joined by two fabulous women, artists, and friends, Deonna Janone and Jessica Valderrama!
Deonna Janone is a reoccurring speaker of ours and an absolute joy to have around. As a former educator turned artist, Janone is ready to give us all a well rounded talk on the intrigue of abstract painting. After launching her studio almost two decades ago, this self taught interdisciplinary master uses various layers of colors and words to intuitively breathe life into once bare canvas.
Janone’s passion for abstraction is wonderfully juxtaposed by fellow speaker’s Jessica Valderrama desire for realism. In contrast to Janone’s bold and colorful method of layering, Valderrama instead follows the path of simplistic snapshots of life. However, this artist is far more than delicate strokes, “Post Covid she founded the Re:Merge Artist Collective to support local professional artists through group shows, monthly meetings, critique sessions, and professional development opportunities.”
