About the Speaker(s):
Both of these incredible artists have found ways to use stitching and sewing to create masterpieces with stories worth knowing. Miranda’s large and vibrant lace fixtures juxtapose wonderfully with Downey’s more simplistic and seemingly delicate cross stitching. However, while Miranda’s vibrancy holds strength through visual impact, Downey utilizes words and phrases to cause their viewers to think critically. By looking past what is displayed before you, each artist is able to guide their audiences towards interactions and efforts beyond oneself. The connecting thread between these artists is their desire for art built upon community.
