Two Days of Play, Listening & Teamwork
Taught by WIT’s Robert Mitchell
A lively, supportive two-day improv intensive designed for complete beginners. Perfect for adults with no improv experience, community leaders, teams, educators, or any beginner seeking a safe, playful space. Sign up for one session or both!
You will explore:
– Understand and apply “yes and” and broader agreement strategies
– Practice ensemble skills so teammates feel supported and free to explore
– Improve listening skills beyond words: tone, intention, offers, and nonverbal cues
– Access and use a range of emotions in scenes to create truthful moments
– Build confidence to take risks, accept failure, and play generously
– Create short improvised scenes with clear choices and strong teamwork
Through games, exercises, and short scene work, participants learn core improv skills: agreement (Yes-And and beyond), strong ensemble habits (“got-your-back” teamwork), active listening (the other 80%), emotional truth, and playful risk-taking. No acting or comedy experience required — just curiosity and a desire to have fun.
July 12th — Foundations & Teamwork
Jump in and discover the joyful rules that make improv sing. We’ll master “Yes-And” and bold offers, explore status and relationships that instantly shape a scene, and build ensemble habits so your teammates always have your back. Expect lively warm-ups, playful trust games, and short scenes that turn nervousness into confident, collaborative fun.
July 19th — Listening, Emotional Truth & Risk-Taking
Get curious about what’s said between the lines. Learn to listen with your whole self—tone, body, intention—and use honest emotion to make scenes land. Push your limits with fun risk-taking games that reframe failure as invention, then bring it all together in longer, satisfying group scenes. By day’s end you’ll be braver, wilder, and more present—onstage and off.
