CLASS DESCRIPTION

Step into the golden glow of a peaceful landscape with “Secret Meadow at Golden Hour,” a six-week oil painting journey designed to inspire artists of all experience levels. In this class, you’ll bring to life a whimsical world of rolling hills, sun-dappled trees, and wildflowers—perhaps even a hidden cottage or mysterious figure tucked in the distance. Each session builds both skill and confidence, beginning with an introduction to oil paints and color theory, then progressing through value studies, brush techniques, and composition planning. You’ll learn how to create depth and atmosphere, play with light and shadow, and develop a strong focal point that draws the viewer in. By the final session, you’ll be glazing, adding finishing touches, and signing your very own 16×20 masterpiece. Whether you’re new to oils or looking to deepen your practice, this class offers a warm, supportive environment to explore the magic of painting—and walk away with a work of art you’ll be proud to hang.

Supplies provided!

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

David Reames

David Reames is an illustrator, oil painter, and writer whose art reflects a deep engagement with memory, the tension of in-between places, and the emotional rhythms of the natural and inner worlds. A graduate of New York University, he spent over two decades in New York City working as a professional illustrator and creative director. His background in visual storytelling, spanning editorial illustration, sequential art, and storyboarding for independent films brings a strong narrative depth and rhythm to his work. David is especially known for his love of cartooning and drawing “critters”—quirky, character-rich animals that add humor and heart to his illustrations. In oil, he paints figurative scenes, evocative landscapes, and expressive landscapes—moments of transition and stillness rendered with depth, texture, and emotional resonance. Whether sketching a storyboard or building a world in oil, he brings a storyteller’s eye to every piece. Now based in Woodstock, Georgia, David paints, writes, and illustrates from his home studio, where he lives with his wife and their rescue dog, Finnegan. His work invites viewers into a world that feels mythic, nostalgic, and entirely his own.
