A Season To Grow

Back for the second year, we are so excited to share with you the North Georgia New Play Festival!

Join us for a weekend full of brand new plays and works, with staged readings of works by Georgia Playwrights!

Submission Process – 

Submissions are officially open for the second annual North Georgia New Play Festival! Selected plays will receive a week of table-work and rehearsal with a director hired by Woodstock Arts, and a cast assembled from the play’s casting requirements, culminating in a staged-reading (classic style of chairs on stage, music stands for active readers) to be presented over the weekend of the 25th -27th of September.

Rehearsals will take place at Woodstock Arts within various rehearsal and conference rooms, starting on Friday, September 18th, then resuming Monday, September 21st, and going through Thursday, September 25th (with one day off in the middle of the week). Rehearsals will be in the 6:30 p.m – 10 p.m range. Playwrights are requested and encouraged to be at these rehearsals, and use the process to refine their play in as full as they would like. Re-writing of scenes/dialogue/full exploration of the show is highly encouraged, as this is meant to be a festival of development and creation.

We are able to pay playwrights a total of $150 for plays selected.

We are looking for five plays in total, with an open criteria on topic/theme. One thing we’d love to explore this year are your biggest, most stretched ideas, nothing is too big or too small!

We are able to take plays that are rated “R” but will be limited in the number of such plays we can take for the entirety of the festival.
