Back for the second year, we are so excited to share with you the North Georgia New Play Festival! Join us for a weekend full of brand new plays and works, with staged readings of works by Georgia Playwrights!

NORTH GEORGIA NEW PLAY FESTIVAL LINE-UP!

Quiet Coyotes by Robyn Novak – Friday, September 25th at 7:30 p.m

Directed by Emma Bullman. Three summer camp counselors are left in charge during a wildfire emergency. In an effort to distract and entertain the campers, the trio begins performing skits inspired by plant adaptations. As the fire draws closer, the plays get more personal, and the counselors become forever changed. 

Closing Time at Graceland by Sarah Kelly –Saturday, September 26th at 3:00 p.m

On a spontaneous trip to Graceland, a woman named Priscilla whose late mother was obsessed with Elvis – meets a man with the same name and thinks it’s a sign. A drama that explores thenature of reality and asks the question: how well can we really know the people we love? 

Spinning Out by Natalie Hazen – Saturday, September 26th at 7:30 p.m

Directed by LilaGrace Lara. Dreams. Dancer. Donut. What does it all mean? Dani is a Millennial single woman trapped in a dead-end office job while all her friends seem to be getting married and leaving her behind. Will a chance encounter with a hula hoop be the only thing that can keep her life from spinning out of control? 

Driving in Circles by Laura King – Sunday, September 27th at 3:00 p.m

Directed by Delaney Circe. In the mountains of Northeast Georgia in August 1941, two young moonshiners aim to race their way out of poverty by winning the 1941 National Stock Car Championship, but first they have one more rum run to make. This is business as usual, but tonight is different. If they get caught tonight, they are headed for the Old Dawson County Jail, and it will be a black flag on their aim to drive in the National Stock Car Championship. 

The Disordered The Despairing The Dead: A Frankenstein Play by Hailey Sipes – Sunday, September 27th at 6:30 p.m

Directed by Molly Penny. When the body of nineteen year old Una Callinan washes up on the lakeshore of a small town in the Adirondacks, the lives of her parents are thrown into chaos. Her mother treats the death as her own detective story, while her father’s dark experiments begin to erode his sanity. Una herself haunts the story, unable to remember what happened to her. In this adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, life and death blur together. Something monstrous lies within each character, waiting to be uncovered.
