CLASS DESCRIPTION

A class for those looking to try acting or to dive back in, this course approaches the study of acting as play between one’s self and others. Through exercises and scene work, students will gain confidence as a performer and connection to their material.

Please note that there will be no class on March 5th .

No previous experience is necessary to take this class.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Put on your dancing shoes and hop in the pumpkin carriage because we are having a BALL! Explore singing, dancing, and acting through the story of Cinderella. Students will learn the basics of musical theatre performance as they re-tell the rags to riches story using songs from, or inspired by, adaptations of the beloved fairytale.

All skill levels are welcome!

The final day will be an invited class for guests to see the students’ work.

Lauren Volk

“Chef” Lauren is an actor and artist based in Woodstock, Georgia, and she’s excited to teach another Broadway Beginnings with your student! Lauren has previously taught both theater and visual arts classes, workshops, and summer camps at Woodstock Arts. A sophomore Theatre and Performance Studies major at Kennesaw State University, Lauren strives to introduce and encourage a passion for theatre in student actors. Be sure to bring a fun spirit and good attitude as we get up on our feet and dance!

Ms. Jetta is a passionate art instructor dedicated to nurturing the creative talents of young artists! Jetta is an aspiring secondary school teacher and senior at Kennesaw State University double majoring in journalism and theater. Jetta has previously worked art and theater camps at Woodstock Arts, as well as theater and songwriting camps at the Alliance Theatre. In her free time, she can be caught reading, painting, dancing, or hiking.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

In this beginner class we will explore the basics of theatre along with the beginner dance techniques. Your child will work on rhythm, coordination, and motor skills all while getting to know the fun and exciting world of Musical Theatre! This class is the perfect combination of play and learning for your little one’s first time in the spotlight! We will perform a selection of materials we learned in class on the final day of class.

Class space is limited.

Children must be potty trained to attend class.

Ms. Kristina is a theatre educator with years of experience. At Woodstock Arts, she has been a Lead Theatre Camp Counselor, Taught several classes, Directed our Youth Spotlight production of The Spongebob Musical, choreographed Matilda, co-directed Madagascar the Musical, Jr., and is a troupe member of our RepTouR Story Tour that performs annually in elementary schools across Cherokee County. Most recently, Kristina was the lead counselor for Senior Theatre Camp.

A Stand-Up Comedy Class

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Does everyone around you think you’re funny? Well it’s time to do something about it! Spend eight weeks working on taking your hilarious thoughts and preparing them for the stage.

In this class, If You’re Funny And You Know It, you will learn how to write and organize your jokes for a live comedy show. You will have hands-on experience preparing for the stage while getting over any fears or thoughts that may be holding you back. You will also learn about the business of comedy from one of Atlanta’s veteran comics, if you want to get paid to perform in the future.

This class ends with a graduation show in the evening on Sunday, May 18th!

MEET YOUR TEACHER

Jessica It’s All Good

Jessica It’s All Good is an award winning entertainer and former theatre instructor. She has over 12 years of stand-up comedy under her belt and over 23 years of teaching experience. As a comedian, she has performed in places like The Punchline Comedy Club, Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club and The Comedy Zone. She is the host and producer of Woodstock Arts’ in-house comedy show, The Lasting Laugh. Jessica has been all over the United States both in-person and online making people laugh from all walks of life and backgrounds.

 

As a teacher in the performance arts, she has put more than 5,000 students on stage, ranging from the ages of 5 to 76. With programs like Drama Kids International, Life On Campus, Circus Camp and Camp Model, she has helped people get over their fears of public speaking and performing in front of live audiences. She has even had the opportunity to mentor new comedians into starting their careers.

 

Jessica received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of Charleston, in Charleston, SC with a major in Theatre. She also has an Associates in Arts from Spartanburg Methodist College. She then came to Georgia to work on her acting career. Within two years of being in Georgia she started her improv comedy journey here at Woodstock Arts in 2010. She worked with the improv troupe formerly known as iThink Improv and is now performing with the Fish Sticks Comedy improv troupe. In 2011 she gave a very comical speech that led her to start building a stand-up comedy career. In 2012 she had her first stand-up comedy performance and never looked back.

 

Jessica was born to perform, and she is determined to take as many people with her as she possibly can. So sign up for this class and mentorship program, then get on stage with her today!

Joe Lemmo became the Woodstock Arts Improv Troupe (WIT) Director in October 2017. He is a professional educator and improv artist with over 20 years of experience in public education and 10 years of experience in improv comedy.

Joe directs and performs with the WIT Improv Troupe. Joe also teaches adult and teen improv classes that each end in their very own graduation shows. He lives in Canton with his wife, son, daughter and cat.
