Lead all Education initiatives and programming to inspire the next generation and grow a culture of continued learning through the arts within our community.
Salary Range:
$45,000 – $48,000
JOB OVERVIEW
The Education Director will serve as a visionary leader and primary driver of all arts education initiatives at Woodstock Arts. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Education Director will guide a growing department that includes both Visual Arts Education and Theatre Education. This role directly supervises the Theatre Education Manager and Visual Arts Education Manager, with a focus on expanding impact, building strategic partnerships, and fostering a culture of continued learning and leadership development through the arts.
The Education Director will be entrepreneurial in spirit, collaborative in practice, and passionate about shaping the next generation of creatives, leaders, and change-makers. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach—someone who is excited not only to sustain current programming, but to actively grow and reimagine what’s possible in community-based arts education.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are current programs and projects that the Education Director will oversee:
- Arts Education Initiatives & Programming [35%]
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a robust portfolio of Visual & Performing Arts programs—including classes, camps, workshops, and showcases—serving all ages and ability levels.
- Partner with the Executive Director to envision new initiatives that advance community growth through accessible and meaningful arts education.
- Supervise the development and execution of program calendars, registration systems, and education infrastructure for both visual and performing arts tracks.
- Ensure programming aligns with institutional values and high-level educational goals, with a strong emphasis on leadership development, creative confidence, and curriculum excellence.
- Management & Vision [40%]
- Provide direct leadership to the Theatre Education Manager and Visual Arts Education Manager, fostering accountability, collaboration, and innovation across disciplines.
- Recruit and cultivate relationships with contract teaching artists, institutional partners (e.g., public schools, homeschool networks), and other collaborators to support program expansion.
- Spearhead the continued development of the educational framework and pedagogy to position Woodstock Arts as a regional leader in arts-integrated education.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Leadership Team to plan and manage the education department’s annual budget. Monitor revenue and expense goals, ensuring financial health and sustainable growth.
- Serve as a partner to department heads across the organization to ensure alignment between educational goals and Woodstock Arts’ overall mission and strategic plan.
- Community Engagement [20%]
- Build and deepen relationships with schools, community groups, and regional partners to extend the reach of Woodstock Arts education programs—both on-site and through potential mobile offerings.
- Work with the Marketing Team to craft messaging and promotional strategies for educational programs across platforms, ensuring clear and compelling outreach to families, educators, and the public.
- Assist with grant writing and other development efforts tied to education initiatives and strategic growth.
- Support organizational events and exhibitions by identifying and implementing educational or outreach elements that amplify community participation and impact.
- Other Duties as Assigned
- Collaborate on organization-wide initiatives and perform other responsibilities as requested to support the mission of Woodstock Arts, such as the fundraising Gala, events throughout the year, etc. .
WORK SCHEDULE
Various work hours will be scheduled on an ongoing basis. Some weekends, mornings, and evenings will be required for this job. This position will also fill voids in staffing where demand of time is high.

- Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree, preferably in arts, management, education, and/or Non-profit experience.
- Familiarity with basic software need as well as emerging media.
- Knowledge in Spektrix, CourseStorm, WordPress preferred, but not required.
- Previous management/admin experience preferred but not required
- Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to think strategically and translate business objectives into recruitment strategies and tactics that will drive performance.
- Positive attitude regardless of situation
- Comfortability and experience in lesson planning.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under deadlines.
