5th Annual Small Town: Small Works Exhibit!

Woodstock Arts has celebrated annual Small Town: Small Works exhibition for four years and is excited to make 2025 its fifth. If you would like to celebrate the opening of this exhibit with us, join us at the Reeves House Visual Arts Center

All of the art featured in Small Town: Small Works is from artists living within a 15-mile radius of Woodstock, and all of the pieces are 15 inches or smaller. The works were selected through an open call and curated by Visual Arts Director, Carolina Cuevas, and Exhibit Manager, Shawn Leary. “We hope the new addition (of the artwork prints) will help encourage visitors to feel less intimidated by the idea of engaging with artwork and exhibitions…” Leary said.

This exhibit aims to celebrate the community and shine a light on local artists. We are proud to announce that the art submissions were higher this year than in any year before for this exhibition.

“This particular iteration of the exhibition is especially significant, having garnered an unprecedented number of submissions—over 300 pieces,” Cuevas said. “What makes it even more special is its revolving nature. As pieces are sold, new works will be introduced, ensuring that each visit offers a fresh and distinct experience. We are incredibly proud to feature the work of 79 local artists in this ever-evolving exhibition.”

This rotating exhibit is intentionally meant to highlight fine art amongst the community and give more people a chance to purchase pieces. In addition to the rotating exhibit, there will be a select few artwork prints available to purchase. This model is meant to support and hopefully increase sales for all Small Town: Small Works artists and make it feasible for patrons to purchase the art as a unique holiday gift for a loved one, or as a way to support their neighbors.

“The Small Town: Small Works exhibition at Reeves House is a truly unique showcase, deeply rooted in fostering local talent and creating vital opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their creations while cultivating a direct connection to the community, empowering residents to become collectors and supporters of their local art scene,” Cuevas said. “Our ambition at Reeves House is to serve as a dynamic hub for artists to develop and thrive, and Small Town: Small Works perfectly embodies this mission.”

This exhibit continues not just Reeves House’s, but Woodstock Arts’ mission to support, platform, and promote incredible local talent and contribute to the growth of Woodstock’s vibrant arts scene. “Small Town: Small Works is an open call built to help all ranges of emerging artists grow their knowledge and confidence in how to advocate for their art,” Leary said. “It’s an honor to be available to help guide these growing artists as they discover the ins and outs of a career in artistry.”

If you want to join the community in celebrating local artists, Small Town: Small Works is free to view and will run from November 7, 2025, to December 24, 2025. You can visit the gallery between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
