Virtual Clay Shenanigans

Hi everybody! I’m Betsy Khuri, a figurative sculptor and oil painter based right here in Woodstock, Georgia. I pretty much have been creating my entire life.  I see the potential in everything! I love using various materials and watching them all come to together! I also believe anyone can be an artist if they decide they are one. I think that, especially now, it is so important for all of us to take time to learn something new and challenge ourselves!

I am excited to be offering online classes thru Woodstock’s own Elm Street Arts. Classes will be once a week for five sessions. Because our groups will be small, we will take the time to get to know each other, learn about clay and its properties and make some fun and useful projects. We will provide the clay and a short supply list for you to work at home.  Each class will also be available online for future reference in case you want to go back and take a look at a certain skill or get some more practice.

I have been teaching clay hand building for a long time and I have never had a student fail! This is a perfect opportunity to take a chance and give clay a try, all from the safety of your home! Art is a way for us to connect to each other and share a little about ourselves. I know that for me art can turn my day around. My goal is to make you feel like a five-year-old with a crayon – excited, fearless and ready to make a masterpiece!

Betsy Khuri, of Betsy Oh Art, works in sculptural clay combining found objects and metals. Her finishes include underglazes, oxides, silver leaf, encaustic wax, and glazes. She finds inspiration for her bold and colorful surreal work from the human form, nature, old photographs, and travel. Her work frequently combines the human form with animals. Her red hair is from a box, she rarely ties her shoes and always has a hard time finding her phone. Betsy sells her work online if you can distract her from counting ceiling tiles or fighting for equal rights for every human. You can follow @betsyohart on Instagram and Facebook. www.betsyohart.com
