Amanda Banks is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist based in North Georgia working across textiles, paper, and mosaic. Her work questions contextual value and the physical effect humans have on our environments using observation, collection, and curiosity. Each piece emerges from a dialogue between artist and material, shaped by the joy of exploration and finding pleasure in
creation.
Banks is an alumna resident of Arrowmont Pentaculum, Stove Works, and the Chautauqua School of Art. Her work has been exhibited at the Information Space, Spruill Gallery, Echo Contemporary, Stove Works, and the Atlanta Contemporary. She loves to share her practice through offering workshops for communities and collaboration with schools, museums, and organizations.
Banks serves as Vice President of the Board for the Rome Area Council for the Arts and advocates for arts access in rural communities. She is forever learning how much she doesn’t know, ideating immersive installations, and planning collaborative community-based projects.
