About
Internationally renowned jazz saxophonist Peter Ponzol will be featured in a rare local performance at the Reeves House Visual Arts Center in downtown Woodstock.
About Peter Ponzol: Peter is a recipient of a National Endowment For The Arts Jazz Performance Grant and was awarded a grant as a visiting artist to Germany by the German Exchange Service. He has performed throughout the US, Canada, and Europe in major jazz clubs and festivals. Peter has played with Elvin Jones, Chick Corea, Paul Bley, Bill Frisell, John Abercrombie, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Richie Havens and many others.
Joining Peter will be pianist and vocalist Penelope Williams and acoustic bassist Neal Starkey. Penelope is a rare talent as she is not only a fine jazz pianist, but is also a wonderful jazz vocalist who is well known throughout the US. A recent article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution called Neal Starkey the ‘Godfather of Atlanta Jazz.’ Neal’s talents as an acoustic bass player have been used not only by all of the great local Atlanta jazz players, but also by famous visiting jazz musicians.
The concert will feature the music of Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, John Coltrane, Horace Silver, and others.
You don’t want to miss this rare concert of America’s original art form performed with an intensity and beauty rarely heard today.
Come sit under the stars, sway to some live Jazz music, and unwind for the weekend while snacking on a charcuterie board with a glass of wine in hand. The music will keep flowing from 6pm-9pm on the back porch at the Reeves House.
You won’t have to travel far to re-up on your refreshments – our outdoor bar will be stocked with wine and beer available for purchase. Alcohol not your thing? Inside you’ll find an expansive menu of inventive coffee drinks and savory or sweet snacks.
Enjoy a drink (or two), explore the art exhibit on display in the gallery, and take a seat to enjoy a beautiful summer evening with jazz as your soundtrack!
