Twelfth Night

Twelfth Night tells the story of Viola, a young heroine who washes up on the shores of Illyria, disguises herself as a man, is sent to court a countess and falls hard for a Duke. As she navigates this strange and wonderful new land, she finds her true self and true love in the process.

Rehearsals – Rehearsals will be on Thursday evenings 6p.m. – 9p.m. and Saturday mornings 9a.m. – 1p.m.

TUITION

Our Spotlight productions are tuition-based theatre education programs. Should you be cast, there is a production fee of $360 with needs-based scholarships and payment plans available. If your participation in the show is dependent on receiving a scholarship, please complete our scholarship application before your audition.

PREPARATION

Woodstock Arts is taking measures to ensure your safety and well-being. We want to make this experience as comfortable, safe, and fun as possible for everyone involved.

Auditions will be in-person on  Sunday, August 4th and Monday, August 5th from 5 p.m – 9 p.m.

Video audition submissions will be accepted until Monday the 7th at 8:00 pm. You can send your Video Submission to kyle@woodstockarts.org. Please Slate, or introduce yourself, before your video audition. (NOTE: you will still need to fill out the online audition form along with a video submission.) 

If we would like to see more from you before we make our decision, you will be invited to callbacks, where we will have you sing from the show, read sides with other actors, and do a dance call. Information about callbacks will be emailed separately, should you be called back. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, October 9th, within the time period of 5:30 p.m – 9:30 p.m.

For your audition please prepare-

Please prepare a monologue from any of Shakespeare’s plays, and 32 bars (about a minute) of a song that you feel confident and comfortable singing. We have included some possible audition monologues HERE.

Twelfth Night Character Breakdown – 

Viola (Female) – Twin sister to Sebastian; Viola lands in Illyria, disguises herself as a boy named Cesario, and enters Orsino’s service.

Olivia (Female) – A countess in mourning over the deaths of her father and brother. She has vowed not to marry for a period of seven years, but falls in love with Cesario.

Orsino (Male) – Duke of Illyria who is in love with Olivia, though she refuses his romantic proposals

Feste (Female) – a busking musician, skilled in wordplay and recognizing the foolishness of others. Playing piano and/or accordion a plus!

Malvolio (Male) – A servant in Olivia’s household; his self-righteousness is exceeded only by his desire for increased social standing.

Sir Toby (Male) – Olivia’s uncle whose fondness for drink interrupts his niece’s house and draws the anger of Malvolio.

Sir Andrew (Male) – Sir Toby’s friend; a foppish nobleman and suitor to Olivia

Antonio (Male) – A rugged pirate and friend to Sebastian who is wanted in Illyria

Sebastian (Male) – Viola’s twin brother; presumed lost at sea, rescued by Antonio

Fabian (Male) – A groundskeeper to Olicia and friend to Toby and Andrew

Illyrian officiant, mail-person, attendant, officers, and townsfolk of any gender
