Auditions: Miss You Like Hell

Miss You Like Hell-

After living estranged from each other for years, a mother and daughter embark on a road trip that crosses state lines. Together they meet Americans of different backgrounds, shared dreams, and complicated truths in this powerful new show with vast heart and fierce humor. Featuring compelling original songs that are every bit as diverse and eclectic as America, Miss You Like Hell  is a new musical that exudes the joy, love and frustration of being a family in a changing country.

Rehearsals –

Rehearsals will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, within the range of  6 p.m – 10 p.m.

Tech Week: March 4th – March 7th, 2024

Shows: March 8th – March 24th, 2024

PREPARATION

Auditions will be in-person on Monday, December 18th from 6:00 p.m – 10:00 p.m.

Video audition submissions will be accepted until Monday, December 18th at 9:00 pm. You can send your Video Submission to zach@woodstockarts.org. Please Slate before your video audition. (NOTE: you will still need to fill out the online audition form along with a video submission.) 

In-person callbacks  will take place on Wednesday, December 20th from 6:00 pm until 10 p.m.

Information about callbacks will be emailed separately.

For your audition please prepare- Please prepare a 16 – 32 bar cut of a song in the style of the show or from the show itself as well as a 60 second monologue.

There will be no accompaniment for this audition, so please send a track to zach@woodstockarts.org prior to your audition to be played in the room for you. 

MISS YOU LIKE HELL Character Breakdown – 

• Olivia, 16 – 25, (plays 16) – A half-Latina teenager with a sharp intellect and rich imagination, though deeply troubled. She is in tireless pursuit of community and love. Beatriz’s daughter.

• Beatriz, 35 – 50 – A Mexican-American woman in her late 30s- early 40s with a dynamic, “no-nonsense” air. Fiercely independent, to a fault, though disarmingly vulnerable. Olivia’s mom.

• Pearl, 16 – 25 (plays 16) – An African-American and/or Black teenager with an infectious, adventurous spirit. Optimistic and intelligent. Loyal friend to Olivia.

• Mo, 25 + (will play older) – A salt of the earth, retired Southern man with enough love in his heart to cover the continental United States. Higgins’s husband. Any ethnicity. 

• Higgins, 25 + (will play older) Another salt of the earth, retired Southern man with enough love in his heart to cover the continental United States. Mo’s husband. Any ethnicity.

• Manuel, 35 – 50 – A Peruvian day laborer with a poetic, romantic sensibility and thirst for life. Loves deeply and with abandon.  Beatriz’s love interest.

• ENSEMBLE (18+) of singers who step into the story as: A LAWYER, AN OFFICER, A LEGAL CLERK, A GUY AT A MOTEL DESK, AN ICE OFFICIAL                                The ensemble roles can be any gender (character names and pronouns can be changed).
