Auditions: Airness

Airness –

When Nina enters her first air guitar competition, she thinks winning will be easy. But as she befriends a group of charismatic nerds all committed to becoming the next champion, she discovers that there’s more to this art form than playing pretend; it’s about finding yourself in your favorite songs, and performing with raw joy. Will Nina be able to let go and set herself free onstage? Following her mission to shred or be shredded, Airness is an exuberant reminder that everything we need to rock is already inside us. A comedy about competition, completion, and finding the *airness* inside yourself.

Rehearsals – Rehearsals will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, within the range of  6 p.m – 10 p.m.

PREPARATION

Auditions will be in-person on  Monday May 29th from 6 p.m – 9:30 p.m. 

Video audition submissions will be accepted until Monday the 29th at 9:00 pm. You can send your Video Submission to zach@woodstockarts.org. Please Slate before your video audition. (NOTE: you will still need to fill out the online audition form along with a video submission.) 

In-person callbacks  will take place on Wednesday, May 31st at 6:00 pm until 10 p.m.

Information about callbacks will be emailed separately.

For your audition please prepare- One of the sides provided, as well as 60 seconds of air guitar, performed to any song of your choosing! You may asked to read a different side in the room, time permitting. Songs will be emailed to staff prior to audition.

AIRNESS Character Breakdown – 

Golden Thunder: Air Guitar quality – originality – 20-30s, actor of color. Golden Thunder uses air guitar to promote world peace.
Facebender: Air Guitar quality – feeling – White, older than the group. Facebender uses air guitar to convey his deepest emotions.
Cannibal Queen: Air Guitar quality – technical ability – 20-30s, any race. Cannibal Queen is the most technically skilled and constantly has to prove herself.
Nina “The Nina” O’Neal: Air Guitar quality – airness – 20-30s, any race. Learning the world of air guitar (and how different it is from her band)
David “D Vicious” : Air Guitar quality – charisma/stage presence – 20-30s, any race. The air guitar sell out. Fame made him jaded.
Ed “Shreddy Eddy” Leary: Air Guitar quality – artistic merit- 20-30s, any race. Devoted to the craft and history of the artistry.
